Fair Hills Resort Wedding, Detroit Lakes MN

Kelsey and Andy got married at Fair Hills Resort in Detroit Lakes on a chilly October day. The couple’s love for the outdoors and wanting a wedding a little out of the city, made Fair Hills the perfect place to celebrate! Plus it’s close to home for Andy!

The morning started by photographing the getting ready festivities, things such as, reading letters they wrote for one another, putting finishing touches on hair and makeup, securing the custom cufflinks on Andy’s attire, and even doing a first look with Kelsey and her bridesmaids. It was pretty special! Next up was the first look where happy tears were shed between the happy couple. The ceremony by the lakeshore, was so gorgeous. I loved that the bridesmaids even had shawls to help them stay warm! Kelsey and Andy even performed a unique “unity” ceremony instead of the traditional candle lighting ceremony.

I think I remember seeing a few snow flakes that morning upon arriving but these guys, their bridal party, and family were all trooper through it all! The bridal party even braved the cooler temps to go on the resort’s pontoon for a ride around the lake during cocktail hour! This was super fun! Kelsey even made it on to the table while her favorite song came on!

Next up, was dinner at the gorgeous dining hall space at Fair Hills! The ambiance of this place is unreal! It is so romantic, but in a cabin/resort way – hard to explain but I think the photos will help explain what I cannot. At the completion of dinner and speeches, there was a sparkler exit from where the dining hall was to where the dance would be held in another building! This was SO fun! The night ended with sharing their first dance and dances with their parents, then dancing with all of their guests! It was a party!
